Q. Are there methods to prevent a photocopier from jamming?
R. Yes, here are a few that will prevent most common jams:
- Once a photocopier jams, make sure to remove ALL the sheets stuck inside in their entirety. If a sheet rips, make sure ALL the bits and pieces are removed. When a photocopier jams multiple times in a row, it's most probably because the subsequent sheets hit a bit of paper still stuck from the original jam.
- In the drawers when putting in paper, make sure that the sheets are boxed in properly so that they can't move about.
- Don't let small objects lie around on the photocopier (ex: paperclips) because they may fall into the machine and break it.
- Do NOT exert a great force on any part of the photocopier.
- A photocopier only works properly when it's over 15 degrees celsius. If you leave for a winter weekend and do not heat, come monday the photocopier will either not print properly or print crooked. *it takes a LONG time to bring a frozen photocopier to room temperature*
